Optometrist
Born and raised in Wichita, KS, Dr. Natalie Nguyen received her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with Medical Emphasis and Minor in Chemistry at Wichita State University as well as an Associate’s degree in Business Administration at Cowley County Community College. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2012 at the University of Missouri College of Optometry. There, she was inducted into the Gold Key Society for her extracurricular and community involvements during school and received an award for demonstrating excellence in Low Vision Clinic. Dr. Nguyen is a member of the American and Ohio Optometric Association, and is licensed to practice Optometry in Ohio.
To diversify her skills in Optometry, Dr. Nguyen’s internship experiences included: Chicago Lighthouse (low vision), Saint Louis University Eye Institute (surgical co-management), Community Health Centers (underprivileged population), Broward Eye Care (contact lenses), Highline Vision Center (pediatrics/vision therapy), and the Wichita VA Hospital (ocular disease). Over the years, she has increasingly developed a niche in managing dry eyes and ocular surface diseases.
When not in clinic, Dr. Nguyen can be found giving RealEyes presentations to students throughout the Columbus and surrounding areas, volunteering her time in providing free children and adult vision screenings and providing pro bono eye examinations for those with limited access to eye care. Community involvement played a huge role in Dr. Nguyen’s upbringing with both giving and receiving, so she wanted to continue that throughout her career especially giving back to help shape the development of the younger generations’ future.
Dr. Nguyen relocated to Grove City, OH from Kansas City, KS in 2016. She loves to travel and when she is not back home visiting her family, she is working on her photography and photo editing skills. You might also catch her on Pinterest from time to time and working on DIY projects. But most of her free time is now spent with her husband and four children. She comes from a very large family and feels that it is important to develop a family relationship with her patients.
“Every second spent with my patients is valuable to me because I am able to provide them with the eye care that they deserve.” – Dr. Nguyen
Carley Lyons was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio before moving to Columbus for her college education. Carley attended the Ohio State University, where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology Pre-Health Professions with a minor in Zoology. During her experience at OSU, she spent the majority of her time in the science department, volunteering as a comparative vertebrate anatomy teaching assistant and holding a leadership role within the Biology/Zoology club. Carley has goals of continuing her education by attending Optometry school and becoming a Doctor of Optometry!
Carley joined the Eye Co. team Summer 2024. She finds her job to be very rewarding and loves the environment she gets to work in. In her opinion, the best part of her job is the people she gets to work with, including Dr. Nguyen, the Eye Co. staff, and the patients at the office. She also enjoys having the opportunity to work with programs like iSee and Realeyes, that provide eye care and education to children in the area.
Outside of Eye Co., Carley loves to spend as much time as she can with her friends. When alone, she enjoys getting lost in antique malls, searching for vintage clothing and analog cameras. Carley spends a lot of her free time outside, taking long walks and exploring new areas of the city. She also loves being around live music!
"Our most important sense is vision, providing eye care to protect this sense for our patients is a gratifying experience."
